5 new Youkai Watch character figurines launched, including one design no one will want

Five new Youkai Watch figurines can now be bought in boxes. You won’t know which youkai you’ll get, and you had better pray you don’t get the crazy-faced granny.

Jiba Nyan (the show’s mascot red cat), Whisper (probably a haunted scoop of ice cream), Koma-san (the albino Jiba Nyan who’s also on fire), Nogappa (the duck-faced kappa who accessorizes poorly), and Bakurobaa (the granny who just had one of those lollipops that turns your tongue green) are the five characters in this figurine series title which I can best localize as “What will you get meow?”

The Youkai Watch franchise is currently booming in Japan, with a new anime series launched and the 3DS game selling like hotcakes even 10 months after its release. A sequel to the first game, Youkai Watch 2, goes on sale July 10.

Fans of the series who wish to purchase the figurines may do so on Amazon, where they are selling a bulk of ten random figurines for 5,000 yen ($48.90). The chance that you’ll get a set of ten Bakurobaas is 0.0000001024, so if you’re a fan of the other cute mascot characters, it’s a chance worth taking!
