Jakarta’s Game Show looks to be by the people, for the people

Yes, the Jakarta Game Show ran for the first time in 2011, and it’s back for 2013 with a bunch of activities for Indonesian gamers. While its website looks pretty sparse, the conference still runs for a total of five days, from 30th October to 3rd November.

To be honest, the Jakarta Game Show looks more like a concerted community effort than anything, with showings from Indonesian gaming and pop culture communities rather than mainstream industry players.

Competitive gaming community Advance Guard has organized two fighting game panels and competitions for the local Trading Card Game community, BEMANI game players, and fighting game players.

Other rhythm game players won’t be left out either, with a Pump It Up team competition on Sunday.

More mainstream gaming and tech booths are limited to Garena Indonesia, publishers MainGames and WaveGame, e-payment solutions Gudang Voucher, and WeChat.

The Jakarta Game Show 2013 is held in Plenary Hall of the Jakarta Convention Centre, and will run until Sunday, 3rd November 2013. More information on it can be found in Games in Asia Indonesia
