Alibaba Cloud tops APAC market share for cloud computing, report says
Alibaba Cloud, the Chinese tech titan’s cloud computing and data intelligence arm, came first in Asia-Pacific market share for infrastructure-as-a-service and for infrastructure utility services across two consecutive years, according to research company Gartner’s April 2019 report.
Gartner collected data from Greater China and Japan, as well as mature and emerging Southeast Asian markets.

The research also showed that Alibaba Cloud’s market share in the region grew to 19.6%, representing a 4.7% increase year-over-year. That was 8.6% ahead of Amazon Web Services, which placed second in market share in the region. Microsoft Azure came in third with an 8% share of the APAC market.
Gartner also found that Alibaba Cloud has retained its position as the third-largest cloud service provided in terms of market share. Its global market share also jumped to 4.9%: a 1.5% increase year-on-year.
Alibaba Cloud has 15 availability zones in the APAC region outside mainland China, covering Hong Kong, Singapore, Australia, Malaysia, Indonesia, India, and Japan markets.
