Didi to delist from New York, move to Hong Kong

Chinese ride-hailing company Didi has announced that it will delist from the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE), and that it plans to list in the Hong Kong Stock Exchange instead, CNBC reported.

The company just listed in the US market in June, raising US$4.4 billion in the process.

However, Didi soon received warnings from the Chinese government about its data protection policies, with regulators ordering local smartphone app stores to stop offering Didi’s app in July. China also reportedly told the company to delist from the NYSE earlier this month.

An observer said that Didi’s decision to re-list in Hong Kong may be followed by other Chinese tech firms listed in the US.
