Singapore-headquartered payments firm 2C2P has partnered with AMK Microfinance Institution to expand the former’s Easy2send service to Cambodia. This allows AMK users to send and receive money to and from the country.
2C2P’s international remittance function was launched in 2019 and enables money transfers from Thailand to Singapore, Vietnam, Myanmar, China, and now Cambodia.
There are over 1.3 million Cambodian migrant workers in Thailand, said AMK CEO Kea Borann, and this solution is expected to cater to this segment. They can now visit one of the over 10,000 payment points in Thailand to securely send money to AMK customers in their home country.
Borann added that these migrant workers send roughly US$2.6 billion home. “Most of this comes from workers in Thailand. Most Cambodians prefer to transfer money with unregistered brokers,” he explained in a press statement.
2C2P was founded in Bangkok by Aung Kyaw Moe in 2003 and now employs over 400 staff in 10 markets across Asia and Europe.
The firm last announced a partnership with India-based Pine Labs to introduce its buy now, pay later solution to customers in Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Thailand, and the Philippines.
