Vietnam-born Sky Mavis, the game studio behind Axie Infinity, has announced the launch of Axie Infinity: Origins on the Apple App Store on May 16.
Axie Infinity: Origins is a version of the game that allows players to enjoy the game with free non-NFT starter axies – the creatures that make up the majority of the title’s gameplay – helping improve accessibility and remove points of friction.
The game will first be available to Apple users in key Latin American and Asian countries such as Argentina, Colombia, Peru, Mexico, Venezuela, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Vietnam.
Its release on the App Store comes five months after the game was announced to be launching on Google’s Play Store. Axie Infinity was previously unavailable on both platforms, with players needing to download the game from Sky Mavis’ website.
The game developer added that it’s collaborating with Google and Apple to bring feature parity to mobile users on both platforms.
Sky Mavis has also announced the launch of Mavis Market, a platform powered by Ronin – the firm’s proprietary blockchain – where users can buy, sell, and showcase NFTs.
Ronin has been recently upgraded to a delegated proof-of-stake model. Sky Mavis said that there are five game studios building and launching games on its blockchain.
