You’ve just sat down for lunch at the plushest restaurant in town, when suddenly your table explodes with noise. Your daughter is screaming because your son has dropped juice on her new dress, and he is shouting back. Then a glass rolls down to the ground and shatters to a million pieces.

Everybody – from the steward to the customer farthest from you – is ready to reduce you to ashes with their glares. And worse happens, the manager can be seen making his way to your table…

Now that is a highly realistic scenario, as anybody who has ever lived with kids knows. But here’s what many don’t know: it can be avoided. All they need to do is look up a good, kids-friendly diner.

And it’s what Mycity4kids – one of the earliest and biggest discovery portals for kids’ events and services in India – spares a thought for.

It could be among the many reasons why 2.5 million moms look up the site every month.

Whether they are looking for a list of places to visit before a child turns 12, or a blog on how to deal with temper tantrums, they are likely to find advice on Mycity4kids. They can also make queries based on location, like where to book a piano class near them.

The Gurgaon-based startup claims it has on board more than 75,000 service providers across nine cities.

“We wanted to become the indispensable mobile platform for today’s multitasking mom by giving her access to everything she needs in one place,” says CEO Vishal Gupta, a postgraduate from the Indian Institute of Management-Bangalore.

Modern parenting isn’t easy. Ask any stressed out mom.

From taking decisions on schooling and activity classes to planning holidays, organizing play dates, scheduling daily pickups and drops for kids to managing their own careers and homes, mothers simply have too much on their plate.

“A lot has changed since we were children, impacting the flow of parenting knowledge. Nuclear families, moving across cities, working spouses, and virtual communities are some examples of this change,” Vishal tells Tech in Asia.
