How a Marriage Agency uses Facebook to its Advantage

Marriage: Sweet for some but usually a pressure for many. The trends in society are changing swiftly (rising cost, career etc) that we have to rely on marriage agencies to find our lifelong partner. Thankfully, Bharat Matrimony, an India based marriage agency is making it easier for the lonely souls, especially for geeks who’re stuck on Facebook.

There isn’t a need to go through Bharat’s website. Everything can be done on Facebook. The number one marriage agency in India has recently launched a Facebook application that helps users search for partners based on age, language, religion & caste. Bharat Matrimony even has a Facebook application that allows friends to play match maker role via Facebook. For those who’re shy, be prepared to be bombarded by social pressure on Facebook.

According to Facebook data, there are more than one million Indian Facebook users who’re single and above 29 years of age. It presents a decent opportunity for Bharat to extend their reach through Facebook.

Besides Facebook integration, the company has also launched a “virtual wife” microsite specifically targeting single males. Titled “Biwi Ho Toh Aisi”, which means “I want a wife like this”, the site makes the process of finding a partner fun. It is simple yet engaging. Users can choose their “virtual wife” from a list of characteristics that closely resemble dynamic real-life personalities. The website offers their audience a taste of what it’s like to be married too.

“Social media is the way forward in the way we communicate and interact. For the younger generation, it goes beyond being merely a social platform to dictating their preferences and choices. Through our application on Facebook, our users can now avail of the benefits of a social medium while allowing family and friends to be an integral part of the selection process. The sheer number of choices available to our users, given Facebook’s magnitude and our exhaustive subscriber base, will ensure perfect matches for almost everybody,” said Murugavel Janakiraman, Founder and CEO of Bharat Matrimony.
