Monk’s Hill Ventures leads $1.5m round of Singapore software testing platform

UI-licious, a software testing automation platform based in Singapore, said it has secured US$1.5 million in a pre-series A funding led by Monk’s Hill Ventures.

Founded in 2016, UI-licious allows software teams to test and monitor end-to-end user journeys for their web applications across browsers.

People without technical expertise can automate user interface (UI) testing with the firm’s smart targeting test engine. It analyzes the web application’s code to understand the structure of the UI and intelligently determine what object to test based on the script.

Its “show, not tell” feature also provides test reports to developers and business stakeholders on detailed information of a bug happening in the application.

Meanwhile, UI-licious also has a self-service management tool designed to manage test execution schedules and notifications. Testers can schedule a job to automatically run tests at regular intervals and send notifications to the team on any errors.

The new funds will be used to expand its product development as well as sales and marketing teams in order to grow its customer base of small to large enterprises.

The firm claims that its platform helps software teams save up to 80% of the time. Some of its customers include Daimler, Jones Lang LaSalle, Glints, among others.

UI-licious was also part of Entrepreneur First’s inaugural Singapore cohort in 2017.

“Currently, 90% of software teams worldwide rely on manual testing which is laborious, intensive, and costly,” said Shi Ling Tai, CEO and co-founder of UI-licious. “As the number of features in a software grows, it can be impossible to test everything and catch software bugs by hand.”
