China’s classy new internet cafe focuses on eSports booths, maids, and couples rooms

Chinese internet cafés, or wang ba (网吧), do not have a great reputation. Dim lights, secondhand smoke, being beaten up by kids, and even murder—there’s definitely no shortage of bad news. But that’s changing.

(See: Gamer in Asia: 5 essentials for surviving the Chinese internet cafe)

Pengzhou’s new Cape of Good Hope Internet Cafe is aiming to turn that reputation around. With a major focus on eSports, the massive establishment stretches across 1,400 square meters and is divided into 10 different areas, including an eSports broadcast area, booths for 5v5 eSports matches, and even couples’ rooms.

Along with girls dressed in maids’ uniforms and (hopefully) a few security guards, we definitely expect the Cape of Good Hope Internet Cafe to be a bigger hit than most other places.
