UK chip firm Arm to establish Malaysia base
UK-based semiconductor firm Arm Holdings Plc will formalize an agreement to establish a base in Malaysia next week, according to Malaysia’s Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.
The decision follows an online discussion with ARM’s CEO and SoftBank Group Corp CEO Masayoshi Son.
Arm Holdings, headquartered in Cambridge, England, specializes in semiconductor and software design, particularly CPU architectures using the Arm instruction set.
Anwar emphasized that Malaysia’s political stability and policies have attracted such investments but acknowledged the challenge of preparing a skilled workforce to meet industry demands.
