TikTok appeals to US Supreme Court to avoid ban
TikTok and its parent company, ByteDance, have asked the United States Supreme Court to stop a law requiring ByteDance to sell TikTok by January 19, 2025, or face a ban in the US.
This emergency request follows a ruling from a US appeals court that upheld the law earlier this month.
The Justice Department has labeled TikTok a threat due to its access to user data and the potential for content manipulation.
In their filing, TikTok and ByteDance claimed that shutting down TikTok would result in significant losses.
