Tesla to enter India with electric cars, plans local factory

Tesla plans to ship thousands of EVs to India, with deliveries expected near Mumbai in the coming months and sales starting by third quarter of 2025.

The company aims to sell its vehicles in New Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru.

The cars will come from Tesla’s German factory instead of China due to India’s import duty concerns.

Tesla is in talks with Indian states to build a factory, which could qualify for EV policy incentives, including reduced import duties.
