Tesla expands to India with new showrooms, hiring
Tesla has secured locations for showrooms in India, with sites in Delhi’s Aerocity and Mumbai’s Bandra Kurla Complex.
The 5,000-square-foot showrooms will sell imported EVs but will not include service centers.
Tesla’s India entry follows CEO Elon Musk’s meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, discussing technology and innovation.
Additionally, Tesla has begun hiring in India, listing 13 job openings on its website for various positions in vehicle service, sales, customer support, and operations, mainly in Mumbai.
Tesla’s entry into the Indian market has faced delays, partly due to high import duties.
In March 2024, the Indian government announced a new policy that lowers import duties for electric vehicle manufacturers willing to establish local production facilities.
