Nintendo stock drops after disappointing Switch 2 teaser

Nintendo’s stock price dropped by 7.2% on January 17, 2025, after the teaser for its next-generation console, the Switch 2, was released, closing down 4.2%.

Fans had mixed reactions, with some expressing disappointment. A gaming YouTuber, known as TwoQuickOnes, tweeted that the Switch 2 looks “underwhelming at best.”

The teaser showcased a design similar to the original Switch, launched in 2017, featuring a larger screen and redesigned controllers.

No technical specifications were provided.

Nintendo also announced a new installment in the popular Mario Kart series.

Further details will be be revealed during the Nintendo Direct event on April 2.
