Microsoft has added 389 megawatts of solar power from three EDP Renewables projects—two in southern Illinois and one near Austin, Texas.

The company is expanding its renewable energy capacity to meet the rising power demands of its cloud and AI operations.

This addition increases Microsoft’s renewable energy portfolio by about 2%, now approaching 20 gigawatts.

These investments support Microsoft’s goal of becoming carbon negative by 2030 while reducing pollution from its operations.
