Meta launches community notes on Facebook, Instagram, Threads
Meta has launched sign-ups for community notes on Facebook, Instagram, and Threads, replacing its third-party fact-checking program.
The program allows United States users to add context to misleading posts.
Eligibility requires a six-month-old account, verification, and age 18+.
Contributors can submit 500-character notes with sources, which will be published if users with differing views find them helpful.
Meta said that notes must follow community standards and will be created by users, with a US-only rollout planned for now.
