Meta’s shift under Trump worries employees, sources say

Mark Zuckerberg’s efforts to align Meta with the Trump administration have raised concerns among employees, according to sources close to the company.

This shift comes amid internal criticism regarding Meta’s content moderation policies and workplace culture.

In January, Meta announced changes to enhance “free expression,” but reports suggest the company has censored internal criticism.

Negative comments have been linked to performance reviews, potentially affecting job security. Since Trump’s re-election,

Meta has cut diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) programs while revising moderation policies to align with the administration’s priorities.

The company also laid off about 5% of its workforce this week, continuing previous cuts from 2022 and 2023.

Zuckerberg’s strategy also targets business rival Apple. He criticized Apple’s restrictive ecosystem in a January podcast, arguing that Meta’s profitability could rise if Apple changed its App Store policies.

Employees remain uncertain about Meta’s workplace culture under Trump’s administration, while the company has not commented on these changes.
