Indonesia has agreed to lift its five-month ban on the iPhone 16 following a deal with Apple.

The ban was imposed in October 2024 after Apple failed to meet domestic manufacturing requirements.

Under the new agreement, Apple will invest US$1 billion in Indonesia, a significant increase from its previous US$95 million investment.

This deal supports Indonesia’s push for local manufacturing and foreign investment.

With the ban lifted, Apple can reenter Indonesia’s market of over 278 million people, many of whom are tech-savvy.

This move comes as Apple faces slower sales growth in China, making Southeast Asia a key expansion opportunity.
