Huawei appoints new head of its AI division Noah’s Ark Lab
Huawei Technologies has appointed Wang Yunhe as the new head of its AI research division, Noah’s Ark Lab, according to Chinese tech media outlet Leiphone.
Wang, previously a senior researcher at the lab, replaces Yao Jun.
The leadership transition, announced on Mar. 18, may lead to further personnel changes, though Huawei has not released an official statement.
Wang specializes in deep learning, model compression, and computer vision. His appointment comes as Huawei strengthens its AI capabilities amid US sanctions and growing competition in China’s AI sector.
The move follows recent industry shifts, including ByteDance restructuring its AI department and hiring Wu Yonghui, a former Google Fellow.
