GM to cut Cruise robotaxi staff by 50%
General Motors (GM) has announced plans to lay off around 50% of the remaining employees at its Cruise robotaxi division.
This decision follows GM’s earlier announcement to discontinue funding for the unit back in 2024.
The unit has seen over US$10 billion invested since its acquisition in 2016.
The automaker cited increasing competition in the robotaxi industry as well as a need to reallocate resources.
