Haofei Wang, the director of engineering at X, has left the company, according to sources familiar with the matter.

Wang joined X, previously known as Twitter, in July 2023, playing a key role in engineering and product development.

His departure is unexpected, given his position as a liaison between company owner Elon Musk and the engineering team.

X recently brought in new engineering leaders, including Mike Dalton and Uday Ruddaraju, both former Robinhood technical leads involved with Musk’s AI venture, xAI.

Neither Wang nor X has commented on the reasons for his exit.
