Defense tech firm Shield AI appoints new CEO

Shield AI, a drone and defense technology startup, has appointed Gary Steele as its new chief executive officer, effective May 13.

Steele is a veteran in the tech industry and previously served as CEO of Splunk Inc., which Cisco Systems acquired in 2023 for US$28 billion.

Steele will succeed Ryan Tseng, who co-founded Shield AI in 2015 with his brother, Brandon Tseng.

While stepping down as CEO, Ryan Tseng will remain with the company as president.
