Coinbase dismisses BiT Global’s lawsuit over wBTC delisting
Cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase has dismissed a lawsuit from BiT Global, linked to Justin Sun, regarding the delisting of wrapped bitcoin (wBTC) from its platform.
The lawsuit, filed last week, requested an emergency injunction to halt the delisting process.
Paul Grewal, Coinbase’s chief legal officer, dismissed the claims as “bogus” on X (formerly Twitter), arguing that the lawsuit lacks legal grounds and opposing the request for a temporary restraining order.
Concerns about Sun’s involvement have arisen due to his past regulatory issues. His history with investigations into his business practices has raised legal and regulatory risks, prompting Coinbase to delist wBTC, effective Thursday, after reviewing its listing standards.
The legal situation is ongoing as Coinbase continues to respond to the allegations in court.
