Amazon launches agentic AI division under AWS leadership
Amazon has established a new division focused on agentic AI to help users and businesses automate tasks without manual prompts.
The division will be led by Swami Sivasubramanian, an executive from Amazon Web Services (AWS). He will now report directly to AWS CEO Matt Garman, who characterized agentic AI as a significant business opportunity for AWS.
This initiative is set to coincide with Amazon’s planned release of agentic AI capabilities to select customers later this month.
AWS is also restructuring, moving AI groups like Bedrock and SageMaker under compute, while forming a new customer experience team.
After the announcements, Amazon’s stock dipped slightly, closing down less than 1% at US$204.81.
