Hi readers,
“Dream, dream, dream. Dreams transform into thoughts and thoughts result in action.” – APJ Abdul Kalam
Do things seem difficult at the moment? Hang in there, you can do it. And do not forget to pat yourself on the back and celebrate when you can.
Like many of you, I too battled many challenges on personal and professional fronts. I have not declared victory yet. I know it is a work in progress.
Almost one year ago, I decided to switch jobs. You know how it is – multiple rounds of interviews, rejections, and then the anxiety of losing my current job amid a pandemic-struck economy.
Today, I generally feel a lot better. I am also celebrating the second premium story I’ve written for Tech in Asia. It has been a great first month here for me, and I am learning so many new things. For example, I have never addressed readers like this before. I hope this note is good enough.
Writing the Zomato IPO story has been another learning experience for me. First, it helped me understand what an IPO is and why it matters to startups. Looking through Zomato’s financials, business challenges, possible future ventures, and more gave me a deeper understanding of the space. A special thanks to my colleague/mentor Collin for helping me at every step.
“The future looks exciting. I don’t know whether we will succeed or fail – we will surely, like always, give it our best.” – Zomato CEO Deepinder Goyal
Aren’t we all feeling the same?
— Kul Bhushan, journalist at Tech in Asia
PS: Here’s my favorite headline that didn’t make the cut: “Do you smell what Zomato’s cooking with its $1.3 billion IPO?”
