Indian Lingerie E-Commerce Site Proving Popular in its First Year

India-based lingerie e-commerce site Zivame.com is celebrating its one-year anniversary, with some impressive accomplishments to date. The company says that since it started last year it has experienced month-on-month growth of 50 percent. And from a modest beginning with only 6000 visitors in August of 2011 (when we featured it after launch), the website went on to see 8 million visitors in total for the year.

While the company sells a wide range of products and brands, perhaps its highest profile product to date is Wonderbra. The iconic undergarment came on board earlier this month and was received very well with over 90,000 visitors on the Wonderbra pre-booking page. Zivame’s CEO Richa Kar further elaborated on what he sees as a very successful first year:

Zivame started as a small dream of selling lingerie to customers in India who found it inconvenient to shop in many ways. Today we have shipped out more than 110,000 orders and we see women choosing Zivame as their preferred destination to make their intimate purchases.

It was just back in March of this year that Zivame announced series A funding from IDG Ventures and Indo-US Venture Partners. I expect we will continue to hear more from the company as it uses that cash to improve its services in the next year.
