The company’s co-founder and managing director, Marbio Suntanu, told DailySocial that it plans to use the fresh investment to add kitchens, partners, clients, and customers.
Yummy provides food solutions for corporate and group customers, offering catering, restaurant, and food and beverage management offerings, as well as customizable corporate-branded outlet services. It is an affiliate of Ismaya Group, a lifestyle F&B company with more than 70 outlets across Indonesia, Singapore, Shanghai, and Dubai.
“Our next focus is, of course, to accelerate business growth for Yummy Corp after we obtain the fresh funds later this year,” said Suntanu.
In May, the company acquired Berrykitchen for an undisclosed sum. The entire Berrykitchen team joined Yummybox, Yummy’s catering arm, as part of the transaction.
In addition to Yummybox, Yummy also launched YummyKitchen earlier this year. The relatively new business operates a network of cloud kitchens in more than 20 locations across Greater Jakarta.
With the service, Yummy looks to help small and medium-sized enterprises in the culinary sector to grow through online campaigns and increased visibility on food delivery platforms such as Gojek’s Go-Food and Grab’s GrabFood.
“We want to help culinary business owners who are already quite popular at one point and then expand their services to take advantage of our location. Utilizing all available services ranging from the kitchen, packaging, to shipping,” said Suntanu.
YummyKitchen is set to go up against tough competition in Indonesia.
In August, it was reported that India-based cloud kitchen Rebel Foods looks to build 100 Indonesian cloud kitchens over the next 18 months with Gojek, following a US$125 million injection from the ride-hailing giant, Coatue Management, and Goldman Sachs, among others.
Not to be outdone, GrabFood later said that it plans to create more than 50 cloud kitchens, or GrabKitchens, across Indonesia by the end of the year.
