You'll need a 64-bit OS to play Titanfall on PC

Shooter fans have been excited for Titanfall since before the game was even announced. That’s because Respawn Entertainment, the development team behind the game, is mostly composed of the people who made the excellent Call of Duty: Modern Warfare at Infinity Ward before jumping ship to form their own studio. So there’s hope that Titanfall will be as fresh and fun as that game was, and not as bland as the Call of Duty series has become in their absence.

But will you actually be able to run Titanfall? That’s a separate question. The game will also be available on Xbox One, but if you’re planning to play on PC, here’s what you’ll need according to Respawn head Vince Zampella:

  • 64-bit Windows 7, 8, or 8.1
  • AMD Athlon X2 2.8GHz or Intel Core 2 Duo 2.4GHz
  • 4GB RAM
  • 512MB VRAM, Radeon HD 4770 or GeForce 8800GT

So, consider yourself warned: if you’re not running a 64-bit OS yet, you’ve got until March 11 to upgrade.

Or, of course, you could just wait for the game to arrive on other platforms. Don’t expect to see it on Playstation anytime soon—Titanfall distributor EA has set up an exclusive deal with Microsoft—but Zampella did say that there might someday be a Mac port of the game, although it’s something that would have to happen after the initial PC release.
