Chinese LOL fans rage at Ghostcrawler over Lee Sin nerfs

Chinese gamers were not impressed when Greg “Ghostcrawler” Street shifted from Blizzard to Riot Games as the new lead designer for League of Legends. Many see him as the man that ruined World of Warcraft, and at the time there were fears he might do the same to LoL.

Half a year later, it’d be hard to call League of Legends ruined, but Ghostcrawler has earned the ire of Chinese players again after a recent interview with him discussing planned nerfs to Lee Sin was translated into Chinese.

The Blind Monk is one of China’s favorite champs, and he’s a favorite to pick or ban all the way up through the competitive scene, so Chinese fans are not happy, as these angry, sarcastic, and popular comments about the news suggest:

(Note: The word “cool” was written in English in most of these comments; Chinese commenters like to mock Ghostcrawler’s speech with drawn-out use of the English word cool.)

[Imitating Ghostcrawler:] After all kinds of testing, we have decided to chop off one of Lee Sin’s legs, because that will be very cooooool.

Crab [Ghostcrawler] must definitely feel that nerfing League of Legends with its 100+ champions is much more satisfying than nerfing WoW with only the classes you could count on your fingers; this is definitely the reason why he switched jobs.

[In response to the comment above:] No, we’ve always thought it was this: Blizzard CEO: ‘Our Heroes of the Storm will be hitting the market soon. Ghostcrawler, you know what to do.’ Ghostcrawler: ‘OK, boss, I’m off!’
