Yahoo has announced the expansion of its talent-building program, Yahoo Academy, to include digital media professionals from Singapore.

This year’s edition of Yahoo Academy will focus on brand building, networking, and mentoring sessions. It will also feature a pitch-off competition, where the winners will be awarded a seven-day trip to a global conference in Sydney in October.

The program will include a one-day workshop in Sydney, led by Rosie and Faris Yakob, who run strategic and creative consultancy firm Genius Steals. They have worked with brands like Coca-Cola, Twinings, and Activision to improve marketing outcomes.

“As AI becomes an increasingly hot topic in the industry and beyond, we believe that the best way to future-proof agencies and careers is to focus on uniquely human attributes, namely creativity and collaboration,” Rosie and Faris Yakob said in a statement.

Yahoo Academy is accepting applications from digital media professionals with one to seven years of experience. While participants may self-nominate with senior endorsement, they can also be nominated directly by senior leadership. Nominations will close on Friday, June 23, 2023.

The expansion of Yahoo’s talent development program into Singapore follows the increasing adoption of AI in the city-state.

Last week, the Monetary Authority of Singapore signed a deal with Google Cloud to develop and use generative AI applications in the government body while supporting “technologists with deep AI skillsets.”
