Promoting Mobile Internet and Gadgets, XL Prefers the Number 49

XL gadgets

Many people put faith a in certain lucky number. For Indonesian telco giant XL, it’s betting on 49. It refers to the company’s latest promotion, “Xmua 49” (meaning “All 49”), in which all its prices start with those numbers.

Starting September 23rd, the campaign will feature its XL BlackBerry Full Service, for Rp 49,000 (US$5.6) for 30 days over three months. It also offers unlimited mobile Internet service for the same price, Rp 49,000 per month, with a speed of up to 512 Kbps.

Joy Wahyudi, the marketing director of XL, told Chip during the promo launch:

With this Xmua 49 program, we expect the positive benefits of the Internet can be broadened, and maximized for society, to support more mobile activities.

It’s not just internet packages, but XL also promotes its bundled gadgets such as the brand new BlackBerry Bold 9900 and the 16GB version of its iPhone 4 – both of which are available for a monthly installment of Rp 490,000 (US$56.90) for 12 months. The Samsung Galaxy SII and Nokia E7 are priced at Rp 4,9 million (US$569) without a contract, and a Huawei broadband modem is the cheapest at only Rp 49,000.

This program is a fairly good deal overall, and XL also provides other promos on its Multiply shop.
