Just in time for the death of the PC industry, Xiaomi launches a laptop

Xiaomi shows off Mi Notebook Air

There’s late; there’s fashionably late; there’s offensively late; and then there’s Xiaomi’s arrival into the PC industry.

The Chinese phone and gadget maker today showed off its first ever laptop at an event in Beijing. It’s called the Mi Notebook Air.

The Air name is borrowed from Apple, which debuted its MacBook Air back in 2008. Xiaomi did not shy away from referencing Apple’s skinny laptop, pointing out at the launch event that the Mi Notebook Air is a little thinner than the Cupertino company’s.

Costing US$525 and US$750, the Mi Notebook Air comes in 12.5-inch and 13.3-inch-screened variants.
