Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi has stepped down from Grab’s board of directors, effective immediately.

Khosrowshahi joined the board of the company’s former subsidiary in 2018 when Uber sold its Southeast Asia business to Grab and then joined the firm’s board when it was publicly listed.

The Uber CEO is stepping down as Grab continues with its effort to complete the proposed acquisition of Foodpanda’s Taiwan business.

“His perspective on building global technology platforms has been invaluable to Grab’s growth,” said Anthony Tan, the firm’s group CEO and co-founder.

Uber’s economic interest in Grab is unchanged by this board transition, said the company. With Khosrowshahi stepping down, Grab’s board now has six directors, four of whom are independent.
