According to People’s Daily, Google China has recently cut off ties with several advertising partners in China without providing any valid reasons. Clients from those affected ex-partners are transferred to five other companies in Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou.
Among those who’re cut-off, seven believed that several Google China employees are involved in some form of bribery.
Our source informed us that the prime suspect is believed to be Wang Xinyu, Google China’s Distribution Channel Senior Executive. The victims claimed that Wang received a car and equity from a Beijing-based Google ad reseller as bribes.
From a third party point of view, it just doesn’t make sense for Google China to sever ties with the ad firms, especially when the seven firms had more than 10,000 combined customers, accounting for 40 percent of Google China’s ad income. We’ll report as we learn more about this situation.
