San Francisco accelerator by MySpace co-founder inviting S’pore startups to apply

i/o Ventures, an accelerator based in San Francisco, is welcoming Singapore startups to apply for its next three-month program, which will start in Mid-February.

The accelerator has been exploring Southeast Asia as an emerging region for technology startups. So far, they’ve visited places like Singapore and Kuala Lumpur and have more trips planned this year.

One of its mentors, Vinnie Lauria, has even brought SuperHappyDevHouse, a premier Silicon Valley hackathon, to Singapore. From what Vinnie has seen, he’s impressed by the quality of startups in Souteast Asia and the region.

i/o Ventures is headed by some of Silicon Valley’s most prominent entrepreneurs. Partners include MySpace co-founder Aber Whitcomb, BitTorrent co-founder Ashwin Navin, HOTorNOT.com co-founder Jim Young, and Lefora co-founder Paul Bragiel.

Deadline for application is 16th January, Monday (apply here). Selected startups will be invited to stay in San Francisco for three months, where they will interact with and learn from mentors from companies like Yelp, Digg, Mint, MochiMedia, and OpenDNS.

A Demo Day comes towards the end of the program, where startups will pitch to a group of angel investors and venture capitalists from Silicon Valley.
