If you would have asked seven-year-old Chris what his favorite things were, he’d respond (with zero hesitation) “Nintendo and Star Wars.” Well now I’m 20 years older, and surprisingly enough my answer is still the same. Although they both have their faults – I’m looking at you Jar Jar – I still love them and nearly all of their characters.
So imagine my jubilation when I found that an animation studio decided to make a mini-series covering the original Star Wars trilogy and performed solely by Nintendo characters. Everything from the choice in characters (Link as Luke, Mario as Han, Robot Rob as C3PO) to the sound effects are absolutely perfect. The multitude of references, jokes, and sound effects made for an explosion of nostalgia.
