English and Chinese versions of Final Fantasy X | X-2 HD dated for Asia, X-3 confirmed to NOT exist

Asian fans of Final Fantasy X and Final Fantasy X-2, your time has come! The games have finally been both priced and dated.

The Asia (read, Traditional Chinese) version of Final Fantasy X | X-2 HD Remaster will release on February 27, 2014 and cost S$52.90 ($41.80) for the PlayStation 3 version. Final Fantasy X and Final Fantasy X-2 will be sold separately for the PlayStation Vita, and cost S$39.90 ($31.50) each. While a 2-in-1 box set does exist, this particular edition does not seem to have made it to Southeast Asian shores.

Also, here’s the news you’ve really been waiting for: the English version of Final Fantasy X | X-2 HD Remaster will release on March 18, 2014, and the PlayStation 3 version will cost the same as the Asia edition. The English PlayStation Vita versions, on the other hand, ring in seven dollars cheaper at S$32.90 ($26) each.

For those of you wondering about the possibility of Final Fantasy X-3 given the addition of the new audio-only episode in the existing Japanese editions of the Final Fantasy X | X-2 HD remaster, brand manager of the Final Fantasy series Shinji Hashimoto said today that the episode had been added simply because “it’s been ten years since the release of Final Fantasy X and the scriptwriter and character designer decided that there still was a story to tell after Final Fantasy X-2 concluded.” The team is not planning to make a third game.

For the curious, this bonus audio episode will be available in both the English and Asia versions.
