Watch the trailer for the Chinese Plants vs. Zombies 2 movie (we've got subtitles!)

Remember yesterday, when we reported that PopCap is indeed making a Plants vs. Zombies 2 animation for China, just as earlier rumors suggested? Well, now you we can do you one better: here’s the trailer to the first of what will ultimately be three animated episodes. And if you don’t speak Chinese, don’t worry, because it has subtitles (just be sure you turn captions on in the video embed below).

My immediate thoughts on watching this trailer:

• This is actually kind of funny! They’re obviously putting a lot of effort into it.
• That zombie is a terrible singer.
• I wonder how far the “zombies like brains” joke will carry them. It works for a good chuckle or two in this trailer, but they’re going to need more than that for the three longer-form animations this is promoting.

Anyway, as you can see, the trailer doesn’t actually set a release date for the first episode, but it can’t be too far off at this point. We’ll be keeping an eye out for it, and if readers are interested, maybe we’ll even translate it when it comes out, too!
