Payments firm for migrants to launch services for South Asian groups

InstaKin, a payment platform for immigrants, said that it plans to roll out services for South Asian migrant communities by the end of the year.

The startup, which has been accepted into Y Combinator’s summer 2021 cohort, started off by offering its payment platform to Pakistani migrants living in the US and Canada.

InstaKin, which was founded in 2020, helps migrants purchase goods and services on demand for their families in their home countries. The platform can be used to send gifts, hire someone to run errands, pay vendors and home bills, and complete legal work, among other things.

According to the company, it has already helped thousands of migrants manage last-mile tasks in their hometowns.

The startup’s founder and CEO, Yasir Shirazi, said in a statement that the aim was for InstaKin to become “an embedded part of a migrant’s journey and how they manage their finances.”

Last November, the US-based startup raised an undisclosed pre-seed sum from Antler, an early-stage venture capital firm, according to Crunchbase.
