Wakfu open beta begins today for Asia

We’ve known Wakfu was coming for a while, and taken several looks at it before, but today, it is finally here. Wakfu has entered open beta. Starting at 5 P.M., you should be able to log in to Asia servers and play the game.

Next year, the game is slated to offer Asian gamers even more, with the implementation of an in-game store in which gamers can buy additional items to supplement their game experience. But for the moment, all you’ll have access to is the vanilla beta.

For those that don’t know, Wakfu is a tactical turn-based MMORPG that has been around for quite a while but has never been available officially in Asia before. It’s quite different from the usual MMORPGs available in this market, and it features some incredibly deep simulations that make the gameplay rather unique. Whether or not the game is your sort of thing may depend on whether or not you’re the strategic/tactical sort, but if you’re on the fence definitely check out our preview of the game from back when it was entering closed beta testing here.
