ABOUT
A peer-to-peer (P2P) learning marketplace, StudySoup gives students a collaborative reading platform that can be accessed from any device on the cloud.
Launched in 2014, the company aims to empower students by providing them with an effective way of selling their course materials. Students can gain unlimited access to notes and study guides on the learning platform, where difficult concepts will also be reviewed by peers before midterm and final examinations.
StudySoup also helps students with homework by collaborating with experts who can clarify doubts about various topics through notes and flashcards. The startup used this pitch deck to obtain its series A funding in 2016.
Fundraising journey
- 2014: US$100,000 of seed funding from 500 Startups
- 2016: US$1.7 million of series A funding from 1776 DC, Canyon Creek Capital, and 500 Startups as well as John Katzman, CEO of Noodle Partners; Jake Gibson, founding partner at Better Tomorrow Ventures; and Leonard Lodish, a professor at Wharton School.
How is the deck compelling?
- The pitch deck is simple and short. It starts off by showing the increase in registered users per quarter on its platform and then describes the education-related issues that StudySoup aims to solve.
- A recap of the deck’s content can be found at the end of the presentation.
