Mapping generative AI startups

OpenAI isn’t the only generative AI startup that’s making waves across the tech ecosystem, as this trend map from VC firm Base10 shows.

The space was relatively quiet just a few months ago but companies are popping up at a rapid pace to serve different user needs. In fact, this article was edited with the help of one of the startups in the list, Writer.

Take, for example, a coder at an ecommerce agency who wants to start their own dropshipping business. They could use ChatGPT for marketing copy and site coding, Cresta for customer support, PhotoRoom for product image editing, and Runway for creating video adverts.

No wonder VCs like Base10 have gone from bearish to bullish on the prospects for companies in the space. They’re also calling AI “the next platform shift.”
