ABOUT
Hamama used this pitch deck in a demo day in 2019, helping it score US$150,000 from 500 Startups.
The San Francisco-based startup offers “fail-proof” microgreens kits that make growing baby vegetables at home cheaper and easier. It was founded in 2016 by two mechanical engineering graduates and former indoor agriculture researchers at Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Hamama currently offers a microgreens starter kit for US$35, which includes a BPA-free plastic tray and three seed quilts. Customers can also pay US$17.99 to have three seed quilts delivered to them every month.
How is the deck compelling?
- The deck has a simple look, with pictures as the focus. The presenters relied on their script to elaborate on the content.
- Even without too many text, the reader can easily understand the deck’s content.
- The numbers included in the deck (sales figure in the past year, year-to-date, and month-on-month growth) supports co-founder Camille Richman’s claim that Hamama is a high-margin subscription business.
- Through citing relevant data, the deck clearly shows the founders’ motive behind building Hamama.
