ABOUT
Based in the US, Front provides a customer communication platform that combines emails, apps, and teammates into a single view. The company was founded in Paris in 2013, then moved to San Francisco and launched from Y Combinator in 2014.
The startup used this pitch deck to raise US$66 million in a series B funding round led by Sequoia Capital in early 2018. Later that year, Front acquired scheduling platform Meetingbird for an undisclosed sum.
To date, Front has raised over US$138 million across four rounds. At present, roughly 6,000 teams are using its services, including those in companies such as Cisco, Shopify, Mailchimp, and Convoy.
Fundraising journey
- 2014: US$3.1 million in seed funding from a round led by SoftTech VC, BoldStart Ventures, and Caffeinated Capital, Point Nine Capital. Angel investors such as Alexis Ohanian, Garry Tan, Kevin Hale, and Aaron Harris from Y Combinator, Kissmetrics’ Hiten Shah, Echosign’s Jason Lemkin, Slow Ventures’ Dave Morin, Elad Gil, Geoff Ralston, Jeff Bonforte, and Gmail creator Paul Buchheit also participated.
- 2016: US$10 million in series A round led by Social Capital and joined by angel investors such as Stewart Butterfield from Slack, Eoghan McCabe from Intercom, Ilya Fushman, and Pierre Valade
- 2018: US$66 million in series B money led by Sequoia, with participation from DFJ and other existing investors
- 2020: US$59 million from a series C round from Sequoia Capital, Initialized Capital, and Anthos Capital with angel investors like Mike Cannon-Brookes, co-founder and co-CEO of Atlassian, Atlassian President Jay Simons, Okta co-founder and COO Frederic Kerrest, Qualtrics co-founders Ryan Smith and Jared Smith, and Zoom CEO Eric Yuan joining in.
