Charts and visuals, only for subscribers

It’s no secret that the AI boom in recent months is about to make a lot of people a whole lot richer. Some estimates have it that the sector will be worth more than US$1.3 trillion by 2031, up from US$96 billion this year.

But who is set to benefit the most from ChatGPT et al. becoming household names?

To find that out, analysts at Morgan Stanley have estimated the revenue exposure of some of the world’s biggest tech companies to the AI sector.

In this case, “revenue exposure” means how much a company’s revenue is likely to be affected by the AI sector. As this tech is on the upswing, higher exposure can be a good thing for these firms.

As the chart above shows, Taiwanese semiconductor firm Alchip leads the pack with 70% of its estimated revenue next year exposed to AI. Close behind at 55% sits chipmaker Nvidia, which recently neared US$1 trillion in market capitalization.

The US and Taiwan dominate the list of 21 firms, contributing nine and eight respectively.
