How Edufarmers and Tech in Asia teamed up to cultivate the Indonesian agritech field

In partnership withAgrinnovation Conference

The agricultural sector is fundamental to Indonesia and its people.

When an industry employs far and away the most people in a country, there’s no other way to describe its importance. And the infusion of tech represents the next evolution of the field.

Agritech has opened up more opportunities for farmers, created new jobs, and promoted sustainable agricultural practices, but any innovation in the industry must be championed and nurtured. That’s what Edufarmers, a non-profit organization focused on empowering Indonesian smallholder farmers, sought to do by collaborating with Tech in Asia to organize the Agrinnovation Conference in 2023.

Planting the seeds of learning

The event was aimed at unlocking the potential of agritech and driving a more sustainable, prosperous future for the nation. It ultimately gathered 940 attendees and saw an additional 144 participants join virtually.

The bustling exhibition space featured over 30 startups with innovative solutions, and there were stage sessions covering a wide range of important topics. These included an opening speech by the Ministry of Agriculture, a session on how agritech is enhancing food security, and even a pitch session featuring six participating startups.

These sessions also involved a stellar lineup of speakers:

  • Arsjad Rasjid, chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry
  • Aldi Adrian Hartanto, founder and partner at Arise
  • Aldrian Irvan Kolonas, CEO of AgriAku
  • Arianne Santoso, senior analyst for government affairs and public policy at Google Indonesia
  • Dwi Sasetyaningtyas, founder and CEO of Sustaination

At a glance:

The target of industry events is typically to cultivate connections to pave the way for innovation and collaboration. With insightful sessions and a robust crowd made up of agripreneurs, government officials, tech professionals, investors, and agritech enthusiasts, Agrinnovation Conference 2023 certainly hit the mark.
