Bulgaria-based ClaimCompass used this pitch deck to raise seed funding from 500 Startups

Founded in 2015, Bulgaria-based ClaimCompass helps air passengers receive compensation of up to 600 euros (US$728) for delayed, canceled, or overbooked flights. It charges a commission fee equivalent to 35% of the compensation amount, which includes value-added tax.

According to the firm, users can file a claim in less than two minutes on its platform, after which its software will do the rest.

The startup used this pitch deck in 500 Startups’ Demo Day in 2017 and was able to obtain seed funding.

Fundraising journey

• 2017: US$475,000 of seed funding from 500 Startups, Social Capital, Hustle Fund, and David Houser
• 2019: US$1.3 million of pre-series A funding from Rambleside, Telegraph Hill Capital, Good News Ventures, Global Edge, Ramen Ventures, and others.

How is the deck compelling?

• It has an eye-catching tagline on the first slide: “We make airlines pay you US$650 for screwing up your flight.”
• The deck starts with declaring the problems in the airline industry: Most people don’t know that they can actually make claims for canceled, delayed, or overbooked flights, and most airlines make it hard to proceed. This is a unique point that ClaimCompass aims to help people overcome.
• It shows how ClaimCompass gains revenue and its month-over-month growth in the number of claims, which indicates the increase in the number of people who uses its platform and the expected growth in its revenue.
• It shares the company’s future goal of partnering with online travel agencies to serve more passengers and thereby gain extra revenue.
