As previous case studies have shown, a partnership with Tech in Asia Studios is exactly that: Partners working together to create something greater than the sum of its parts.
When SPH Media acquired Tech in Asia in early 2023 to work closely with The Business Times, this emphasis on true collaboration underpinned the budding relationship. Since then, TIA and BT have worked on several joint projects, culminating in the co-organization of Tech in Asia’s flagship Jakarta Conference in October 2024.
Hand in hand
Even though the Jakarta Conference has long been a fixture in TIA’s events calendar, BT’s involvement wasn’t a tentative, passive, or silent affair. Instead, the two media firms shared the spotlight from the get-go, with BT’s editor Chen Huifen standing alongside TIA chief operating officer Maria Li on stage to open proceedings and welcome attendees and speakers.

BT’s stage participation continued with senior correspondent Leslie Yee moderating a panel on the past, present, and future of proptech in Southeast Asia, which featured industry luminaries such as Darius Mahtani Cheung, founder and CEO of 99 Group; Sabrina Soewatdy, CEO of Rukita; and Ethan Cheng, managing partner of Feedback Ventures.

BT was also a consistent presence throughout the conference venue, with a booth in prime location that even had a barista serving coffee orders. Offstage, BT was included in extensive marketing and coverage efforts before, during, and after the Conference.
