Fears that the rise of AI will hurt humans in the workforce feel like they’re at an all-time high in much of the world. But the sentiment seems to be different in Asia.

A recent survey by PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) has revealed that Asia-Pacific employees feel significantly more bullish on AI in the workplace compared to their peers from the rest of the world.

As the chart above shows, the survey of 19,502 respondents in the region found that 41% of employees think AI will help them in their work, while 34% feel the technology will give them the opportunity to learn new skills.

In contrast, the global averages for the two responses sit at 31% and 27%, respectively.

That said, 16% of surveyed Asia-Pacific employees believe that AI would replace their roles, compared to only 13% globally.

The PwC report also revealed that “workers in Vietnam, Indonesia, and India are more likely to view AI as an opportunity to learn new skills” compared to those living in Japan, Australia, and New Zealand.
